Monthly Support Groups

Are you living with a mental illness and suffering in silence? Do you have a family member, loved one or friend who lives with a mental illness?

NAMI Portage and Wood Counties offers free monthly Support Groups to help you cope and connect with others who will understand and be a listening ear.

Peer Support Groups for individuals living with mental illness and Family Support Groups for family members or friends who have a loved one dealing with mental illness.

Our support groups are open to the public and lead by trained facilitators who also deal with mental illness or have a loved one who suffers from a brain disease.

NAMI Portage and Wood Counties offers three Peer Support Groups each month for those living with a mental illness.

The first Thursday of the month a Peer Support Group will be held in-person in Stevens Point at St. Paul Lutheran School, 1919 Wyatt from 6:15–7:45 p.m.  Please use Door 3 to enter off the parking lot and follow the signs downstairs. An elevator is also available on the main level.

On the third Wednesday of the month a Peer Support Group will be held in-person in Wisconsin Rapids at McMillan Memorial Library
, 490 E Grand Ave from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Contact Andrea 715-321-6672.

On the 4th Tuesday of the month a Peer Support Group will be held in Marshfield at Faith Lutheran Church 207 S. Cherry Avenue from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

NAMI Portage and Wood Counties offers two Family Support Groups each month for those with a loved one living with a mental health condition.

A Family Support Group meets in Stevens Point on the first Monday of each month from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 1919 Wyatt Ave. Please enter Door 3 off the parking lot. We now have a meeting room in the lower level. Take the stairs to the right, inside the door. There is an elevator down the hall from the entrance for use as needed. Contact Kathy 715-254-5452 or Marvin 715-592-4522.

A Family Support Group meets in Wisconsin Rapids on the second Monday of each month from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at the McMillan Memorial LIbrary, 490 E Grand Ave

Meetings are always open to the public and we welcome new visitors at any time!! You may attend any group regardless of where you live. Choose whatever works for you or do both! Please don’t hesitate to call with any questions.

If you are unable to attend a support group in person, NAMI WI now offers a virtual Peer Support Group for those living with a mental illness and a virtual Family Support Group for those who have a loved one affected by mental illness. 

The Virtual Peer Support Group is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm

The Virtual Family Support Group is held the 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8 pm.

NAMI Classses
